Reviewer for Plumbing Principles and the Plumbing Law (RA 1378) for the Master Plumber board.
Basic Plumbing Principles
Plumbing protects public health by supplying safe water and removing waste. Two key systems: water supply (pressurized) and drainage (gravity).
The Plumbing Law (RA 1378)
RA 1378 (1955) regulates the master plumber trade. Only licensed master plumbers may design and supervise plumbing installations.
"The pipe shall be free from defects" โ plumbing’s guiding aim is sanitation and protection of public health.
Plumbing Fixtures
Fixtures (sinks, water closets, lavatories) connect to supply and drainage. Each has a fixture unit value used in sizing.
Traps & Vents
Every fixture needs a TRAP (holds water to block sewer gas) and proper VENTING (maintains pressure so the trap seal is not siphoned).
Before your exam, make sure you can confidently explain and apply each of the following:
- Basic Plumbing Principles
- The Plumbing Law (RA 1378)
- Plumbing Fixtures
- Traps & Vents
Re-read any section above where you hesitate, then explain it aloud in your own words โ if you can teach it simply, you understand it. Focus your final review on the tables, formulas, and the common-mistake warnings, since those are where most points are won or lost.
