Grade 7 Math โ€” Quarter 4: Statistics

Grade 7 Math Q4: data presentation and measures of central tendency.

DepEd MELC reviewer for Grade 7 Mathematics, Quarter 4. Study the rules, worked formulas, and exam hacks below.

1

Collecting and Presenting Data

Data can be shown in tables, bar graphs, line graphs, and pie charts. Choose the graph that fits the data.

2

Measures of Central Tendency

MeasureMeaningHow to find
MeanAverageSum รท number of values
MedianMiddle valueArrange, pick middle
ModeMost frequentValue that appears most
Data: 4, 8, 6, 8, 9 โ†’ Mean = 35รท5 = 7, Median = 8, Mode = 8
๐Ÿ’ก Exam Hack

Always ARRANGE the data from least to greatest before finding the median.

3

Introduction to Probability

Probability measures how likely an event is, from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain).

P(event) = favorable outcomes รท total outcomes
4

Worked Example

Find the mean, median, and mode of 5, 7, 7, 9, 12.

Mean = 40รท5 = 8 ยท Median = 7 ยท Mode = 7

The data is already arranged, so the middle value (7) is the median.

๐Ÿ“Œ Quick Recap โ€” Master These

Before your test, make sure you can confidently do each of the following:

  • Explain and apply Collecting and Presenting Data.
  • Explain and apply Measures of Central Tendency.
  • Explain and apply Introduction to Probability.
  • Explain and apply Worked Example.

Re-read any section above where you hesitate, then try the worked example again without looking.
