Measures of Central Tendency

Data: 4, 8, 6, 8, 9 → Mean = 35÷5 = 7, Median = 8, Mode = 8

Always ARRANGE the data from least to greatest before finding the median.

Introduction to Probability
Probability measures how likely an event is, from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain).
P(event) = favorable outcomes ÷ total outcomes

Worked Example
Find the mean, median, and mode of 5, 7, 7, 9, 12.
Mean = 40÷5 = 8 · Median = 7 · Mode = 7
The data is already arranged, so the middle value (7) is the median.
