Materials Around Us
Objects are made of materials like wood, plastic, metal, glass, and cloth. Each material has properties โ hard or soft, rough or smooth, bends or breaks.
| Material | Property | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Wood | hard, strong | chairs, tables |
| Glass | clear, breakable | windows, cups |
| Cloth | soft, bends | clothes, towels |
| Metal | hard, shiny | spoons, nails |
We choose materials by their use. We use glass for windows because it is clear, and cloth for clothes because it is soft and bends.
Day and Night in the Sky
In the sky we see the Sun during the day. It gives us light and heat. At night we see the Moon and stars.
Day and night happen because the Earth turns. When our side faces the Sun it is day; when it turns away it is night.
Never look straight at the Sun โ it can hurt your eyes. The Moon is not hot and does not make its own light; it reflects the Sun.
