Grade 10 Science โ€” Quarter 2: EM Spectrum & Light

Grade 10 Science Q2: the electromagnetic spectrum, mirrors, and lenses.

DepEd MELC reviewer for Grade 10 Science, Quarter 2. Master the concepts, tables, and common-mistake warnings below.

1

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

Radio โ†’ Microwave โ†’ Infrared โ†’ Visible โ†’ UV โ†’ X-ray โ†’ Gamma
๐Ÿ’ก Exam Hack

Left to right: increasing frequency & energy, decreasing wavelength. Visible light is a tiny middle band.

2

Reflection and Mirrors

Law of reflection: angle of incidence = angle of reflection. Concave mirrors converge light; convex mirrors diverge it.

3

Refraction and Lenses

Light bends when it changes medium. Convex (converging) lenses can form real images; concave (diverging) lenses form virtual images.

โš ๏ธ Common Mistake

Convex lens = converging (thicker middle). Concave lens = diverging (thinner middle).

4

Uses of EM Waves

WaveUse
RadioBroadcast, Wi-Fi
MicrowaveCooking, radar
InfraredRemote controls, heat
X-rayMedical imaging
๐Ÿ“Œ Quick Recap โ€” Master These

Before your test, make sure you can confidently do each of the following:

  • Explain and apply The Electromagnetic Spectrum.
  • Explain and apply Reflection and Mirrors.
  • Explain and apply Refraction and Lenses.
  • Explain and apply Uses of EM Waves.

Re-read any section above where you hesitate, then try the worked example again without looking.
