DepEd MELC reviewer for Grade 10 Mathematics, Quarter 2. Study the rules, worked formulas, and exam hacks below.
Polynomial Functions
Graphs are smooth, continuous curves. The degree and leading coefficient determine end behavior and the maximum number of turning points.
The Circle
The center is (h, k) โ note the SIGNS flip. (xโ3)ยฒ+(y+2)ยฒ=25 has center (3, โ2), radius 5.
Chords, Arcs, and Angles
A central angle equals its arc; an inscribed angle is half its intercepted arc.
Worked Example
A circle has center (2, โ1) and radius 4. Write its equation.
Watch the signs: center (2, โ1) becomes (xโ2) and (y+1).
Before your test, make sure you can confidently do each of the following:
- Explain and apply Polynomial Functions.
- Explain and apply The Circle.
- Explain and apply Chords, Arcs, and Angles.
- Explain and apply Worked Example.
Re-read any section above where you hesitate, then try the worked example again without looking.
